Shelter helps around 170,000 people each year fight for their housing rights, get back onto their feet and find and keep a new home. Shelter also try to fight the causes of bad housing by campaigning for new laws, housing policies and solutions. Every single day Shelter provide practical help to individuals and familes facing homelessness or some housing problem.
Shelter believe everyone is entitled to have a home, and they help people find & keep a home by campaigning for decent housing. The United Kingdom is the fifth richest country in the world and still millions of people still wake up every day in housing that is run down, dangerous or overcrowded and many of these people have lost their home completely. There were 200 thousand more children living in poverty last year throughout the UK and although the government claims there has been progress made in ending child poverty, charities such as Shelter have shown the current situation to be a disgrace. In London there are nearly 1/2 a million children trying to escape bad housing and being homeless. By donating to the charity Shelter there is a great chance for you to help children out of poverty in the UK. You can help them by supporting Shelter's work through a 1-off donation or regular direct debit payments. For £5.00 a month you can help Shelter run local advice surgeries for people with housing problems. For £5.95 a month you can help answer shelter helpline calls from people with housing needs. For £10 a month you can help pay for drop in facilities for homeless families where children can play safely and the parents can get advice & support. And for £20 a month you can help Shelter case workers settle homeless families into their new homes. Go to the Shelter site now |
